Post for 11/4

Hello everyone,

It's 8:43PM and I just remembered that I needed to do a blog today. I'm here at the Bronco Study Zone on the second floor of Waldo Library manning the check-in desk, my first day on the job. I wasn't quite sure coming to Western if I'd have time for a job, but over the last couple of months, I've had more than enough time on my hands. It's a 10-hours a week thing, so not very demanding there, and all I do for the most part is just make sure people check-in and check-out, which is more difficult than it seems. Already I've had a couple people come in without checking in, but waving my hands and saying, "excuse me, sir," still didn't get their attention. I know college can sometimes get to be a lot, but dang, where are their heads at? I work until 10 tonight, which is both good and bad. Good because I'm a night person so I have no problem working that late, but bad because I have a 10+ minute walk back to the dorms. Up until last week that wouldn't have bothered me, but since there's been an armed robbery in one of the places that I walk through. Hopefully it's nothing, I usually don't carry anything valuable besides my phone anyways.

Well, that's all for now. See everybody tomorrow.

Review of Class: 10/19 - 10/25

Hello everyone,

This week in class was one I enjoyed. I was pretty uncertain about the revising of all our work, I figured the minimum word count would be bumped to 1,000 words, and really strict revision guidelines. Luckily, it's pretty relaxed and chill. Be more focused, grammatical correctness, normal things that I'm use to doing from high school. I also like that being that there's five revisions that we have to do, that not all of them are due at one time. I also enjoy the fact that one of the papers are good with just grammatical changes and that whole mild revisions.

Well, hope everyone has a good weekend.

Post for 10/21

Hello everyone,

Lately I've been experiencing something a tad bit odd. I've always considered myself a rather fluent reader, I pride myself on collection of books I own, and always made time to sit down and read. Recently, though, I've found myself unable to pick up a book. I'm not saying that I don't have time anymore, because I certainly do, and it's not that I have nothing to read, I book I preordered came in the mail two weeks ago and I'm not even past page ten. I'm not quite sure what it is. I'm not really using the free time I do have towards anything better either, I just kind of sit around, go to class, sit around, eat, go to class, and sleep. I'd understand if I were out meeting people or hanging out with friends, which I do from time-to-time, but I have 15-20 books I brought from home, 5-10 of which I need to read, and I just don't really have the motivation to pick any of them up anymore. Maybe it's just being in college, I don't know.

Well, that's my random thought of the week. Happy revising to everyone and good luck, I think we all could use a little.

Review of Class: 10/12 - 10/18

Hello everyone,

This week in class was fairly normal. Well, I take that back, since we didn't meet Wednesday it was rather abnormal. As to Monday, that was pretty normal though. I liked the peer review process that we did, and Mike, who reviewed my paper, definitely gave  me some good ideas for my second draft. We then had to rewrite one of our papers from a different perspective, which I thought was really cool. I struggled a little bit, but I thought my end result was rather interesting, and I didn't really realize I could switch so easily.

Well, hope everyone has a good weekend, see everybody Monday.

Post for 10/14

Hey everyone,

For today's random topic, I figured I'd talk about the importance of music. I think the thing that makes music such an essential part of many peoples lives is that it helps keep the mind busy. When someone is bored, their mind starts to keep itself busy with things that don't matter. With music, the brain is focused on taking in what it's hearing, and keeps itself occupied. It also allows us to sympathize with others, and see that there are others that deal with things like we are.

Well, that's all for now, see everybody tomorrow.

Review of Class: 10/5 - 10/11

Hell everyone!

This week in class was pretty cool, especially because we only met once, which I thought was a good move. I've read two of the three stories so far, and have thought both were fairly good. I'm still kind of unclear about the whole bibliography thing, but at this point I'm more worried about the essay I still have to write. Speaking of which, I feel like it'll be interesting for everyone. The two stories I've read have been very different from each other, so I think the topics we have to choose from will lead to extremely well written, very different papers.

Well, I hope everyone enjoys their weekend, see everybody Monday!

Post for 10/7

Hello everyone!

Over the weekend, the Tigers were decimated in the playoffs, getting eliminated in the first round without winning a single game. As a lifelong Tigers fan, it was tough to see. Over the past four years, the Tigers have been one of the best teams in all of baseball, consistently making it deep into the playoffs. This year, however, was just embarrassing. In two games, the Tigers bullpen allowed the game to slip away in the late frames, first game was a one run deficit until the bullpen was brought in, at which point it became a nine run deficit. The second game they turned a three run lead into a one run deficit. It's such a shame that a playoff caliber was let down by a minor league caliber bullpen.

Well that's my topic for the week, I hope everyone enjoys their Wednesday off.
Peace!
