Hello everyone!
I enjoyed this week in class for the most part. The two pieces we read for Wednesday were kind of split for me. The Stuart Dybek piece was by far my favorite. It just resonated with nostalgia, he remembers a memory, and while remembering that, remembers some other memory. It's kind of weird towards the end, definitely an adult situation. The way he told it didn't come off as XXX or anything like that though, it came off as more of a walking down memory lane and remembering the best times in his life, and it was definitely worth it. The other piece, whose author and title escape me, wasn't great for me. The way it was written made it hard to read for me. I understand why it was written that way, but it wasn't very appealing. Also, the excessive use of profanity bothered me. I know that "bad words" can be used in writing to effectively drive a point, but in this piece it really didn't have a purpose in my view, it's just there to be there. The narrative we have to write for Monday I'm kind of excited for. I've been giving it some thought and I'm getting some ideas floating around. I really think it'll be a fun piece to write, but also a challenging one.
I hope everyone enjoys their weekend, see everybody Monday.
